Cardiovascular diseases are a common cause of death in patients with end-stage renal diseases. Hemodialysis patients frequently have an abnormal iron metabolism, that may cause QT prolongation associated with increased risk of arrhythmias. MOreover high serum ferritinconcentration is correlated with metabolic syndrome.
